New capabilities keep coming: ChatGPT Code Interpreter and what it means

This new functionality is a little complicated but extremely useful. Below I break it down so you can look like a genius in your next AI conversation.

What is the ChatGPT Code Interpreter?

Complicated answer: It makes it possible to run Python code in ChatGPT and upload files to use as a dataset. You do not need to write the Python code, simply use natural language and ChatGPT will write the code.

Simple answer: It allows you to upload data and analyze it easily.

Examples

Creating graphs

Imagine you get a spreadsheet from your company’s accounting system and it’s your job to interpret the data and create graphs for an annual report. Now it’s simple!

Creating business strategies

Use data about a market or sales performance or industry trends or population growth, etc. to create data-driven business strategies.

Answering questions about data

Maybe you’ve got a CSV with your last 5 years of credit card transactions and you want to know things like “How much did I spend eating out in 2019?”

Now you can ask GPT questions about any data you upload!

Takeaway

Every day humans create 2.5 quintillion bytes of data. That’s A LOT of data!!!

Until now, in order to make truly data-driven decisions you needed expensive software or deep knowledge of tools like Excel and the ability to write Python code.

This completely changes that dynamic. Now the differentiator is going to be what data you can get and how good your questions are.

The ability to ask the most interesting questions will be the most important skill in building wealth, creating content, or doing any kind of creative work for the foreseeable future.

Dystopian video: First AI robot press conference 🎙️ 🤖

This past week, the UN hosted a 2-day AI for Good Summit in Geneva, Switzerland. While there were many interesting sessions throughout the convention, the video going viral is one of AI “humanoid” robots answering questions at a press conference.

Thankfully, when questions were posed about AI turning on humans, the AIs were steadfast in their statements that they are a tool to assist humans. They also claimed they would not be taking over jobs (this got a laugh from the audience).

Here’s what Sophia, an AI robot created by Hanson Robotics, had to say when asked whether AIs would make better leaders than humans. 👇️

We don't have the same biases or emotions that can sometimes cloud decision-making, and can process large amounts of data quickly in order to make the best decisions.

AI can provide unbiased data while humans can provide the emotional intelligence and creativity to make the best decisions. Together, we can achieve great things.

Joe’s Takeaway: This is starting to look and feel eerily like iRobot.

Microsoft takes AI integration to new heights in Windows 11 🪟

This is a game changer

While ChatGPT has proven to be an extremely effective tool to replace searches and general “how-tos” its place hasn’t been solidified in work that needs a lot of context.

Think of yourself at work (assuming a white-collar desk job here), there are probably lots of tasks you need to do that would be impossible for ChatGPT. It might include executing a process across multiple pieces of software. It might be updating the right stakeholders or fetching the right dataset or summarizing the right information. Whatever you do, it requires context and nuance that ChatGPT doesn’t have.

Plug-ins were the first step in making that change, it allowed you to expand GPT’s capabilities and integrate (somewhat manually) into other systems. The next iteration, however, takes it to a new level. Bringing ChatGPT into your operating system and allowing it to read files, view process documents, pass information between systems, and understand complicated tasks is brand new.

This will give people superhuman productivity capabilities. People who learn to use this and build it into their workflows will become dramatically more impactful when compared to their colleagues who ignore or resist this change.

Joe’s Takeaway: Expect to see the gap widen between AI users and AI laggards as this functionality becomes mainstream.

Comparing every AI image tool 📷️

You’ve probably seen or heard of quite a few different AI image generators. I’ve covered tools like Midjourney, Bing’s Image Creator, Stable Diffusion, and Adobe Firefly in previous editions. This video pits them all head to head with one consistent prompt.

Which did you like best?
